IAA Host Apps

IAA is Inter-App Audio, an iOS specific protocol which allows an app (host) to run IAA apps inside of it.

1. You can only run one instance of an IAA app at a time.
2. Some IAA apps have multiple IAA outputs like Patterning for example where there is one output available for each part of the drum kit and the main output which can be selected by the user.

What is an IAA host app?

1. An app that can host IAA apps inside of it.
2. Audiobus requires developers to add Audiobus support to their apps in order to be hosted inside of Audiobus.

Examples of IAA Host Apps apeMatrix, AUM, Audiobus 3 (see above requirements), Auria Pro, BeatMaker 3, Cubasis, GarageBand, and Stagelight.

Are there IAA hosts that are also IAA apps that can be used inside of another IAA host app? Yes there are. AUM, and apeMatrix can both be hosted in Audiobus 3 for example. Learn about specific IAA apps and IAA host apps with respect to what sorts of routings they support.
